Distinguished leader retires after 39 years of service: Dr. Clinton Lewis honored for legacy in Grenada Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

A remarkable era of profound leadership came to a close on August 23, 2023, as Dr. Clinton Lewis presented his final report to the delegates during the opening night of the 6th Quadrennial Session of the Grenada Conference of Seventh- day Adventists. Dr. Lewis, who was the president of the Grenada Conference of Seventh-day Adventist for an astounding 22 years, announced his retirement amidst a packed audience at St. George's Seventh-Day Adventist Church in session. The theme, "Empowered by Christ: I Will Go," encapsulated his enduring commitment to service.

Dr. Lewis, having embarked on his journey with the Grenada Conference 39 years ago, brought a spirit of transformation to the churches in Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique . He began with a two-year term as President of the Grenada Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, and became the first president of Grenada Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist after the change of status. Over his tenure he lead from the front in doubling the membership and establishing fifteen new congregations. Today, the vibrant spiritual landscape of Grenada boasts 50 congregations, with an additional four in Carriacou and Petite Martinique. .

Dr. Kern Tobias, President of the Caribbean Union Conference, highlighted the remarkable feats achieved under Dr. Lewis's leadership: "Our team at the union has worked together with Dr. Lewis to provide mission alignment and spiritual synergy with the Grenada Conference." This collaborative approach elevated the Grenada Conference and the wider Seventh-day Adventist community across the Caribbean.

Among those in attendance were dignitaries from the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventist and the Caribbean Union Conference. Vice President of the IAD Dr. Balvin Braham stood as a testament to Dr. Lewis' impact on the church. Fellow presidents from the Caribbean Union and their spouses stood in respect for a colleague who had demonstrated grace and distinction throughout his career. Dr. Tobias praised Dr. Lewis for his accomplishments and described his retirement as one without "rumors," a testament to his sterling character.

The Caribbean Union Conference organized a special session for August 24, 2023, to commemorate Dr. Lewis' outstanding contributions. President Tobias speaking at the recognition service called him "a great servant leader" who emboTdied Christ's ministry's essence. The event resonated with words of affirmation and appreciation from fellow regional leaders for Dr. Lewis and his wife.

Then end of Dr. Lewis's era marked the beginning of a new era; Pastor Enoch Isaac, newly elected President of the Grenada Conference, echoed the sentiments of the others before him by declaring, "There is no doubt that God has been with you these years in your role as president, pastor, and leader." Dr. Lewis' multifaceted service included roles as District Pastor, Ministerial Secretary, Personal Ministries, Sabbath School, Community Services, and Communication Director.

Beyond his pastoral contributions, Dr. Lewis embraced a profound commitment to community and stewardship. He nurtured his love for agriculture by cultivating crops in his garden and sharing the harvest with his neighbors. His passion extended to fishing, which he used to foster connections with individuals of all ages.

Notably, in 2021, Dr. Lewis received a distinguished honor from the British Empire. The Queen conferred upon him the title of Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) [Civil Division], recognizing his contributions to humanities.

Dr. Lewis and his wife Femma raised three daughters throughout the 42-year marriage which exemplified a dedication to their faith and community and leaves evidence of his indelible legacy as a transformative leader, compassionate minister, faithful parent and dedicated servant. As he embarks on a new chapter, the Grenada Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and the wider community celebrate his profound impact and wish him a fulfilling retirement.
