The Suriname Mission of Seventh-day Adventists (SDA) announces its 6th Quadrennial Session, scheduled for March 13-14, 2024, at Centrum Seventh-day Adventist Church, Eduard J. Brumastraat #112, Paramaribo, Suriname. The officers installation will take place at Centrum SDA Church on Friday, March 15, 2023, followed by the national convention service at the Torarica Hotel Ballroom on Sabbath, March 16, 2024.

Themed “Remembering the Mission: I Will Go,” the quadrennial event will gather delegates from across the country to deliberate on mission goals, receive reports from administrators and directors, propose strategies for future effectiveness, and elect officers to serve in the upcoming quadrennium.

Approximately 51 local delegates, representing the Adventist population of 3500 members spread across 22 congregations, will join Church leaders from the wider Seventh-day Adventist organization, including representatives from the Inter-American Division (IAD) and the Caribbean Union Conference (CARU). Dr. Leonard Johnson, Executive Secretary for the Adventist Church in the Inter-American Division will be the guest speaker for the session meetings.

President of the Suriname Mission, Pastor Guno B. Emanuelson, emphasized the dual nature of the event, stating, “Beyond the important task of discussing the business of the church, the session will also reflect the diversity within the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Suriname.”

Acknowledging the challenges posed by secular influences in the former Dutch colony and the diverse cultural landscape, Pastor Emanuelson highlighted that “the church's impact in areas such as youth development, radio ministry, health programs, and public evangelism is still evident.”

The Business Session will receive ministry reports covering the period 2020 to 2023, as well as elect departmental directors, trustees, and committees to coordinate the Church's work for the next four years.

The Suriname Mission actively advances the SDA Church's mission in the territory, operating two accredited institutions for elementary school students. A dedicated ministry team engages with four language groups—Dutch, English, French, and Portuguese in neighborhood outreach.

Delegates at the session will nominate personnel to lead the work for the next four years, with observers, retirees, community guests, and SDA Church leaders from sister territories within the Caribbean Union Conference also participating.

While business sessions remain closed to on-site delegates, devotional sessions in the mornings and evenings will be streamed live on the Facebook and YouTube platforms of the Suriname Mission of Seventh-day Adventist
